Management of pregnancy after augmentation cystoplasty [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2015
We report a case of successful pregnancy following augmentation ileocystoplasty in a patient with a neurogenic bladder dysfunction. A review of the literature reveals incidences of premature delivery and renal dysfunction. Careful urological monitoring of such patients should result in a successful pregnancy.

Mode of Surgical Injury Influences the Source of Urothelial Progenitors during Bladder Defect Repair

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2017
Summary: The bladder urothelium functions as a urine-blood barrier and consists of basal, intermediate, and superficial cell populations. Reconstructive procedures such as augmentation cystoplasty and focal mucosal resection involve localized surgical ...

Vesicovaginal fistula presenting as a large abdominal pseudocyst: A rare case

open access: yesUrology Annals, 2016
We present a rare case of indirect vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) in a patient with small capacity bladder. The fistula was between abdominal pseudocyst (APC) arising from bladder and vagina – and hence, an indirect VVF.

Advancing Personalized Care for Neurogenic Bladder: The Case for Continent Urinary Diversion

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) with a poorly compliant bladder that is refractory to minimally invasive therapies (MIT) represents an “end‐stage” phenotype in which the principal objectives are durable upper urinary tract protection and restoration of continence with acceptable long‐term morbidity.
