Augmentation cystoplasty: What are the indications?
Current Urology Reports, 2008Augmentation cystoplasty has been studied and performed by urologists for more than 100 years. Although specific indications, techniques, and materials used have undergone major changes and revisions during this period, the general concepts have remained the same. Carcinoma Associated with Augmentation Cystoplasty
British Journal of Urology, 1987Summary— Three patients with augmentation ileocystoplasties developed carcinoma at the ileovesical junction 7,22 and 24 years after surgery. ALTERNATIVE TECHNIQUES FOR AUGMENTATION CYSTOPLASTY
The Journal of Urology, 1998We discuss conventional intestinal cystoplasty and show how concern about potential complications has led to an interest in alternative methods for cystoplasty. Techniques such as gastrocystoplasty, ureterocystoplasty, vesicomyomectomy (autoaugmentation), seromuscular augmentation, alloplastic replacement and bioprosthetic materials are reviewed ...

Augmentation Cystoplasty and the Artificial Genitourinary Sphincter
Journal of Urology, 1989In 18 patients with urinary incontinence secondary to decreased bladder compliance and sphincteric incompetence, augmentation cystoplasty and the artificial genitourinary sphincter were combined successfully to produce complete urinary control. Insertion of the sphincter was simultaneous with augmentation cystoplasty in 11 patients.

Long-Term Results of Augmentation Cystoplasty
European Urology, 1998To present the long-term results and complications of augmentation cystoplasty.267 patients underwent augmentation cystoplasty with a minimum follow-up of 3 years.Patients with neuropathic bladders had a 78% continence rate with cystoplasty alone increasing to 90% with the addition of an artificial urinary sphincter. Patients undergoing cystoplasty for

Augmentation Cystoplasty in the Failed Exstrophy Reconstruction
Journal of Urology, 1988Of the 148 patients with bladder exstrophy seen at this institution during the last 10 years 12 have ultimately required bladder augmentation. In 4 cases augmentation was performed for an inadequate bladder capacity, upper tract decompensation and dry interval of less than 1 hour after bladder neck reconstruction and epispadias repair.

Management of Pregnancy after Augmentation Cystoplasty
Journal of Urology, 1990We contacted 256 members of the Society for Pediatric Urology to determine their experience with patients who had undergone augmentation cystoplasty and who later became pregnant and delivered a baby. There were 15 pregnancies in 15 patients. Urinary tract infection or pyelonephritis complicated 9 of the 15 pregnancies (60%) and 4 patients experienced ...

Volume Augmentation Cystoplasty and Persistent Urgency
Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology, 1982Volume augmentation cystoplasty may reduce severe urgency and micturition pain in patients with bladder contracture due to chronic interstitial cystitis or tuberculous cystitis. Cystoplasty can be used successfully only in carefully selected patients with neurogenic bladder dysfunction.

Indications for Augmentation Cystoplasty in the Era of OnabotulinumtoxinA
Current Urology Reports, 2016Overactive bladder (OAB) with or without a neurogenic etiology that is refractory to conventional first-, second-, and third-line therapies is a challenging condition that typically leaves the physician and the patient with few options. Historically, treatment for patients who did not respond to any of the few pharmacologic choices focused on more ...
