Approximation of the capillarity problem by an augmented lagrangian method

The author proposes an algorithm to compute an approximation of capillary surfaces in a gravitational field. The algorithm is based on a decomposition-coordination method by augmented Lagrangians and the discretization is done using the finite element method.

The idea is that both these concepts replace the original problem by a sequence of sub-problems in which the constraints are expressed by terms added to the objective function.
