A Splitting Augmented Lagrangian Method for Low Multilinear-Rank Tensor Recovery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper studies a recovery task of finding a low multilinear-rank tensor that fulfills some linear constraints in the general settings, which has many applications in computer vision and graphics.

Application of machine learning to viscoplastic flow modeling

open access: yes, 2018
We present a method to construct reduced-order models for duct flows of Bingham media. Our method is based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) to find a low-dimensional approximation to the velocity and artificial neural network to approximate the ...

Electromagnetism-like augmented lagrangian algorithm for global optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents an augmented Lagrangian algorithm to solve continuous constrained global optimization problems. The algorithm approximately solves a sequence of bound constrained subproblems whose objective function penalizes equality and inequality

Variational Poisson denoising via augmented Lagrangian methods

open access: yesETNA - Electronic Transactions on Numerical Analysis
In this paper, we denoise a given noisy image by minimizing a smoothness promoting function over a set of local similarity measures which compare the mean of the given image and some candidate image on a large collection of subboxes. The associated convex optimization problem possesses a huge number of constraints which are induced by extended real ...

Investigation on hard‐rock breaking performance and auxiliary mechanism of picks assisted with both‐sided high‐pressure water jets

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper investigates the high‐pressure water jet‐pick combined rock‐breaking mode (HPC), which employs high‐pressure water jets to precut grooves on both sides of the picks. The rock‐breaking patterns and performance of the HPC method are obtained, and the auxiliary rock‐breaking mechanism of water jet grooving is revealed.

Improved global convergence results for augmented Lagrangian method with exponential penalty function

open access: yesSelecciones Matemáticas
The purpose of the present paper is to improve the global convergence results established so far concerning the Augmented Lagrangian Algorithm with exponential penalty function for solving nonlinear programming problems with equality and inequality ...

Phosphoryl Halogen and Hydrogen Bonding Controls the Solid‐State Structures of Aryl Halide‐Containing Phosphonates

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Intramolecular (RO)2PO→Halogen interaction versus intermolecular (RO)2PO···HOH hydrogen bonds. Although the O···I distance is shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of the atoms involved, there is no covalency involved in this interaction.

An Efficient Method for Euler’s Elastica Based Image Deconvolution

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Variational models involving Euler's elastica energy have a wide range of applications in digital image processing. Recently, fast methods, such as the proximal-augmented Lagrangian method (PALM), have been successfully used to solve nonlinear higher ...

Coupled Fluid–Structure–Acoustic Analysis of Flow‐Induced Noise Control Using an Elastic Baffle in a Micro Channel

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This research explores how fluid flow, structural movement, and sound interact in an elastic baffle system. Using a numerical approach based on the finite element method, the study analyzes how noise and vibrations change with different baffle configurations. The findings reveal that shortening the baffle by half reduces noise transmission by 9%, while

An asymptotically superlinearly convergent semismooth Newton augmented Lagrangian method for Linear Programming [PDF]

open access: yes, 1953
Powerful interior-point methods (IPM) based commercial solvers, such as Gurobi and Mosek, have been hugely successful in solving large-scale linear programming (LP) problems.
