Managing maternity: Moving care, not patients, using artificial intelligence (AI), internet‐of‐things (IOT) and point‐of‐care testing (POCT) devices

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 173, Issue 2, Page 602-613, May 2026.
Abstract The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into healthcare is accelerating and maternity care is at a pivotal moment for the strategic implementation of these technologies. This article explores how AI‐assisted women's health innovations, often termed “FemTech,” may transform pregnancy care by addressing long‐standing disparities ...

Testing DAT1 and DRD4 Genes in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Using a Wide Spectrum of Neurocognitive Batteries

open access: yesInternational Journal of Developmental Neuroscience, Volume 86, Issue 3, May 2026.
This study examined DAT1 and DRD4 VNTR polymorphisms and neurocognitive performance in 336 children and adolescents with ADHD and controls using the CNS Vital Signs battery. DAT1 10R/10R showed no significant effects after adjustment, whereas DRD4 4R/4R was associated with reduced cognitive flexibility. ABSTRACT Attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder

Fermentation techniques for protein enrichment of cassava peel

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 7, Page 4384-4393, May 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND The use of agro‐industrial by‐products such as unconventional feeds in animal production is an alternative for reducing the high costs associated with conventional feeds. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of aeration, pH adjustment, the use of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and the amount of urea on the enrichment of ...

Low methane emissions from nutrient‐rich former river channels in a hydrologically managed dryland delta

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2026.
Abstract Anthropogenic stresses in dryland regions can alter hydrology, salinization, and biogeochemical processes. How these pressures influence methane (CH4) cycling and emissions from aquatic ecosystems remains poorly understood. Over the course of 1 year, we measured diffusive and ebullitive CH4 emissions from resacas—shallow, hydrologically ...

Micronutrients for cacao: Availability classes in two soil layers

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract Efficient management of soil micronutrients is crucial for the yield and sustainability of cacao (Theobroma cacao L.), especially in tropical regions. However, specific availability classes for copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), and zinc (Zn), extracted by Mehlich‐1, had not yet been established for the crop in Brazil. This study presents,

Wide variation in hydraulic safety margins across and within southern Amazon forests

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 5, May 2026.
Site‐specific conditions and species identity were the main drivers of variation in Ψdry and HSM50 in southern Amazonian trees, but played a weaker role in explaining Ψ50. Ψpredawn strongly predicted HSM50. Across the Amazon, Ψ50_CWM and Ψdry_CWM became more negative with increasing MCWD, whereas HSM50_CWM showed no significant relationship with MCWD ...
