Ausforming of medium carbon steel
The prospect of enhancing the hardness of low alloy steel for the manufacture of fasteners is examined using ausforming, in which the austenite is deformed rapidly at a low temperature to increase its dislocation density before quenching in order to ...

Influence of Ausforming on the Micro‐ and Nanostructure of PH 13‐8 Mo Maraging Steels
The potential of the integration of ausforming into the heat treatment of PH 13‐8 Mo maraging steels is investigated. By performing ausforming, a refinement of martensite is achieved. Furthermore, the high number of induced nucleation sites can elevate the number density of β‐NiAl precipitates after aging.
