Austenite grain growth and effect of austenite grain size on bainitic transformation

open access: yesMaterials Science and Technology, 2022
This study was carried out with medium carbon steel to investigate the austenite grain growth kinetics at three temperatures and the effect of prior austenite grain size on bainitic transformation kinetics. Grain growth behaviour of austenite with two initial microstructures, pearlite and bainite, have shown almost similar kinetics.

Austenite grain growth simulation considering the solute-drag effect and pinning effect [PDF]

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2017
The pinning effect is useful for restraining austenite grain growth in low alloy steel and improving heat affected zone toughness in welded joints. We propose a new calculation model for predicting austenite grain growth behavior.

The Effect of Precipitate Evolution on Austenite Grain Growth in RAFM Steel. [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials (Basel), 2017
To study the effects of various types of precipitates and precipitate evolution behavior on austenite (size and phase fraction) in reduced activation ferritic/martensitic (RAFM) steel, RAFM steel was heated to various austenitizing temperatures. The microstructures of specimens were observed using optical microscopy (OM) and transmission electron ...

Austenite grain growth and hot deformation behavior in a medium carbon low alloy steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
To examine the austenite grain growth behavior and kinetics under isothermal austenitization process in a low alloy medium carbon forged steel, heat treatments at different temperatures (1150, 1175, 1200, and 1260 °C) and times (5, 15, and 25 min) were ...

Three-dimensional cellular automaton simulation of austenite grain growth of Fe-1C-1.5Cr alloy steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
A three-dimensional (3D) cellular automaton model describing the austenite grain growth process of Fe-1C-1.5Cr alloy steel is established. This model proposes a discrete representation of the three-dimensional grain boundary curvature, and calculates the

Growth behavior and kinetics of austenite grain in low-carbon high-strength steel with copper

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2021
A low-carbon high-strength steel with copper has better antibiological corrosion property, more widely used in large marine projects and ships. In this study, an austenite grain growth model of a low-carbon ship plate steel with 1.6Cu was established by ...
