Growth behavior of ultrafine austenite grains in microalloyed steel
Acta Metallurgica Sinica (English Letters), 2009Ultrafine austenite grains (UFAGs) with size of 1–5 μm were prepared through repetitive treatment, four times, of rapid heating and quenching, and the growth behaviors of these UFAGs during both the reheating and cooling stages were investigated. The results indicated that UFAGs without pinning particles appeared with significant coarsening when the ...

Rules of austenitic grain growth in 18KhNVA steel
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 19811. The kinetics of austenite grain growth in 18KhNVA steel at 930°C depends upon the rate of heating to 930°C and the preliminary heat treatment as a result of the high tendency of this steel toward structural hereditary. 2. An increase in the heating rate of 18KHNVA steel leads to the formation of an unstable fine-grained structure ...

Grain growth in austenite NiTi shape memory alloys
Scripta Metallurgica et Materialia, 1994The driving force for grain growth arises from the surface energy of the grain boundaries. When thermal energy is imparted to the material, diffusion takes place, leading to the growth of favorably oriented grains. The kinetic of grain growth were studied in an austenitic phase Ni42Ti alloy at room temperature.

Growth of Individual Austenite Grains Measured with 3DXRD Microscopy
Materials Science Forum, 2007Studying austenitisation in steel, so far, was either limited to observations at the surface of the material or to the determination of the average grain growth behavior in the bulk. The development of the three-dimensional X-ray diffraction (3DXRD) microscope at beam line ID11 of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in Grenoble, France, made it

Abnormal growth of austenite grain of low-carbon steel
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2006Abstract Niobium is an important alloying element for the steel. To know further the effect of Nb in the steel, the contrast experiments on the austenite grain growth of the 0.015%Nb and free Nb steels were carried out using Gleeble 1500 thermomechanical simulator.

Simple model for austenite grain growth in microalloyed steels
Materials Science and Technology, 2008Previous models for grain growth are usually based on Beck's formula, which are inadequate for quantitative prediction of austenite grain growth during reheating of as cast microstructures in microalloyed steels. The applications of these empirical grain growth models are limited to some particular categories of steels, such as Nb, Nb–Ti and Ti–V ...

Effect of titanium additives and nitrogen on austenite grain growth
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 19861. Preliminary heating to 1300–1440°C and hardening of medium-and high-carbon steels containing titanium and nitrogen shows a considerable effect on austenite grain growth during subsequent heating. During this heating to 1100°C the grain actually does not grow but at higher temperatures up to 1320°C its retarded growth is observed.
