AlN and Nb(C,N) Composite Precipitation Behaviors and Their Effects on Austenite Grain Growth in SCr420H High‐Temperature Carburized Gear Steel

Steel Research International
The effects of nitrogen (N) and niobium (Nb) contents on the precipitation behaviors of AlN, Nb(C,N), and AlN‐Nb(C,N) precipitates and austenite grain growth during the pseudo‐carburizing process are investigated for the carburized steel SCr420H.

Modeling of Austenite Grain Growth During Austenitization in a Low Alloy Steel

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2015
The main purpose of this work is to develop a pragmatic model to predict austenite grain growth in a nuclear reactor pressure vessel steel. Austenite grain growth kinetics has been investigated under different heating conditions, involving heating temperature, holding time, as well as heating rate.

Grain growth in austenitic stainless steels

Metallography, 1978
Recent studies on the sintering of 304L stainless steel powder compacts showed an intimate coupling of the grain growth and densification processes. The effect was particularly dominant in the intermediate stage of sintering in which the pore structure became rounded, temperatures in excess of 1330K, and times in excess of one hour.

Investigation of the Austenite Grain Growth in HY-TUF Steel

Solid State Phenomena, 2020
The high strength silicon steel HY-TUF, applied for manufacturing of the heavy loaded aerospace and engineering parts, was investigated. The effect of the heating temperature in the range 900...1000 °C on the austenite grain size was studied. The steel under consideration had a significant scatter of the austenite grain size.

Growth of austenite grains during induction heating

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1963
1. The minimum grain size resulting from induction heating is determined by the initial size of the austenite grains, which, in turn, depends on the size of the elements of the original structure 2. Changes in the rate of induction heating between 8 and 1000 deg/sec do not affect the size of the initial grains.

Austenite grain growth in a nuclear pressure vessel steel

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2013
Abstract There is uncertainty on the physical significance of models applied to the coarsening of austenite grains in nuclear pressure vessel steels. As a result, new data are generated and analysed by adapting standard theory to account for the initial austenite grain size generated when the steel becomes fully austenitic, and any growth during ...

Growth behavior of ultrafine austenite grains in microalloyed steel

Acta Metallurgica Sinica (English Letters), 2009
Ultrafine austenite grains (UFAGs) with size of 1–5 μm were prepared through repetitive treatment, four times, of rapid heating and quenching, and the growth behaviors of these UFAGs during both the reheating and cooling stages were investigated. The results indicated that UFAGs without pinning particles appeared with significant coarsening when the ...

Rules of austenitic grain growth in 18KhNVA steel

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1981
1. The kinetics of austenite grain growth in 18KhNVA steel at 930°C depends upon the rate of heating to 930°C and the preliminary heat treatment as a result of the high tendency of this steel toward structural hereditary. 2. An increase in the heating rate of 18KHNVA steel leads to the formation of an unstable fine-grained structure ...

Grain growth in austenite NiTi shape memory alloys

Scripta Metallurgica et Materialia, 1994
The driving force for grain growth arises from the surface energy of the grain boundaries. When thermal energy is imparted to the material, diffusion takes place, leading to the growth of favorably oriented grains. The kinetic of grain growth were studied in an austenitic phase Ni42Ti alloy at room temperature.

Austenite grain growth kinetics and the grain size distribution

2009
The aims of this work are to assess the kinetics of austenite grain growth, and to estimate the three dimensional grain size distribution. Measurements are to be used for the validation of a statistical model for the estimation of the kinetics of austenite grain growth during hot strip rolling.
