Comparison of Nitriding Behavior for Austenitic Stainless Steel 316Ti and Super Austenitic Stainless Steel 904L

open access: yesMetals
In situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to compare nitrogen low-energy ion implantation (LEII) into austenitic stainless steel 316Ti and super austenitic stainless steel 904L. While the diffusion and layer growth were very similar, as derived from the decreasing intensity of the substrate reflection, strong variations in the observed lattice expansion—

Strategic Off‐Stoichiometry to Accelerate Nb–W–O Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
An off‐stoichiometric synthesis strategy is developed where compositions between line compounds lead to multiphase formation that hinders particle coarsening, limits diffusion overpotential, and enhances high‐rate galvanostatic capacities. High‐power lithium‐ion batteries require durable anode materials that can store and release lithium rapidly.

Self‐Expanding Cardiovascular Stents: Potentials and Challenges of Shape Memory Biomaterials

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 114, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Cardiovascular diseases affect a large portion of the global population and remain leading causes of morbidity and mortality. Endovascular stenting, a minimally invasive procedure, enables the insertion and deployment of stents to restore arterial patency without open surgery.

Alloy Solutions for Ammonia Cracking: A Review

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 77, Issue 6, Page 923-934, June 2026.
This work provides a literature overview of the nitriding and degradation of structural materials under ammonia cracking conditions and explains the known mechanisms and the gaps, where research is required. ABSTRACT Hydrogen is a key factor in energy storage and transportation, which will inevitably lead to a substantial increase in demand.

Application Prospect and Effect of Rare Earth Elements in Ferritic Stainless Steels

open access: yesTeshugang, 2008
The anti-pitting corrosion,anti-stress corrosion and high temperature anti-oxidizing properties of ferritic stainless steels(11%~30%Cr)are better than that of austenitic stainless, but normal feritic stainless steels have higher ...

A Laser Beam Welding Process and Its Microstructural Thermoelastoplastic Analysis

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Laser beam welding has emerged as an advanced, contactless joining technique in recent years. This is primarily due to its high feed rates and low thermal distortion compared to conventional welding processes. These advantages stem from the focused energy input of the laser, enabling precise and controlled process execution.
