Simulation of Austenite Grain Growth in Low-Alloyed Steels upon Austenitization

Physics of Metals and Metallography, 2023
A model has been developed that describes the grain growth upon austenitization, taking intoaccount the pinning of moving grain boundaries by carbonitride precipitates. The behavior of these precipitates is described using our previously developed approach for predicting the evolution of carbonitride particles.

Model Predictive Control of the Exit Part Temperature for an Austenitization Furnace

open access: yesProcesses, 2016
Quench hardening is the process of strengthening and hardening ferrous metals and alloys by heating the material to a specific temperature to form austenite (austenitization), followed by rapid cooling (quenching) in water, brine or oil to introduce a ...

Cyclic re-austenitization of copper-bearing high-strength low-alloy steels fabricated by laser powder bed fusion [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Characterization, 2020
For the first time, cyclic re-austenitization is carried out for additively manufactured high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steels in order to refine the microstructure by reducing the prior austenite grain (PAG) size. In this work, HSLA-100 steels processed

Effect of Austenitization and Tempering on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a 5 wt% Cr Cold Work Tool Steel

open access: yesSteel Research International, 2016
The effects of austenitization and tempering temperatures for a 5 wt% Cr cold work tool steel are studied with an aim of understanding the influence on microstructure and mechanical properties.

Sliding wear of austenitic and austenitic-ferritic stainless steels

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2002
The dry sliding behavior of a 304L austenitic stainless steel and a duplex 2205 austenitic-ferritic stainless was investigated. The evolution of wear was characterized by the existence of a sliding-distance transition. In particular, wear passed from delamination to tribo-oxidation, with a reduction in wear rate. The occurrence of such a transition was
