Halide‐Dependent Photoluminescence and Heavy‐Atom Effects in Low‐Melting Organic–Inorganic Manganese Halides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two pyridinium‐based ionic liquid templated hybrid manganese halides, (C4Py)2[MnCl4] and (C4Py)2[MnBr4], display similar bulk structures but show significantly different photoluminescence behaviors due to the bromine heavy‐atom effect. Their stable local Mn environments remain intact even in the molten state, allowing applications such as luminescence ...

Magnetothermal‐Triggered Response and Self‐Healing of Recyclable and Reprocessable Nanocomposites for Actuation Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Developing recyclable materials for magnetic robotics that combine rapid response and self‐healing properties is challenging. Hence, this study focuses on the integration of magnetothermal nanoparticles into a dynamic sorbitol‐based vitrimer, a recyclable composite capable of remote actuation and self‐healing by magnetic heating.

Fast Track to the Overdoped Regime of Superconducting YBa2Cu3O7‐δ Thin Films via Electrochemical Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overdoping high temperature superconductors, such as YBa2Cu3O7‐δ (YBCO), is expected to maxime the critical current density by optimising the condensation energy for a given defect landscape, providing new thrust for the development of fusion enabling coated conductors. Here, precise oxygen control is achieved via an electrochemical method allowing for

Princely graves from Kleinklein in Styria, Austria

open access: yesArheološki Vestnik, 2019
The princely graves in the Hartnermichelkogel 1 and 2, Pommerkogel and Kröllkogel tumuli form a burial ground separate from the rest of the Early Hallstatt necropolis located below the hillfort at Burgstallkogel near Kleinklein.

Organic farming at the heart of the rural development policy. The example of Austria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
With about 10% of all Austrian farms being certified organic, Austria has one of the highest rates of organic farms in the European Union. Organic farms receive payments within the agri-environmental programme (AEP). With about 78% of farms participating

Light‐Actuated Fiber‐Climbing Inchworm Robot Toward Endoluminal Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A kirigami‐inspired soft inchworm robot harnesses optical energy from a customized side‐emitting optical fiber, guaranteeing its propulsion along the fiber body. The wavelength‐selective responsiveness of dye‐functionalized liquid crystal elastomers and the application of temporal illumination patterns enable sequential control of robot components. The

Polygraphs in Austria

open access: yesEuropean Polygraph, 2013
"The legal classifi cation of polygraph use in Austrian criminal courts was established almost 50 years ago. It was based on the permanent judiciary practice of the Supreme Court from the 1960s on – that the use of polygraphs during any part of a criminal procedure is not allowed. This article will provide a short review of this practice of the Supreme

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

Enhanced Human Antigen‐Specific B Cell Responses Using In Vitro 3D Tonsil Cultures Containing Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a fully human 3D tonsil cell culture system incorporating supportive stromal cells that better sustains and activates immune cells than conventional methods. The model generates stronger, more targeted antibody responses to viral antigens and vaccines, providing a physiologically relevant and entirely human platform for studying immune ...
