Matrix stiffness softening is identified as a previously underappreciated feature in deep caries. Higher stiffness drives exosome release in dental pulp stem cells through a coordinated mechanism involving PI3K–AKT‐regulated Baiap2 and kinesin‐1, thereby promoting odontogenic differentiation.

A Beveridge curve decomposition for Austria: What drives the unemployment rate?
The Austrian Beveridge curve shifted in 2014, leading to ongoing academic discussions about the reasons behind this shift. While some have argued that the shift was caused by a supply shock due to labour market liberalization, others have stated that ...

A Novel Pak1 Activator Ameliorates ER Stress for HFpEF Therapy
Chronic metabolic stress is a major contributor to HFpEF progression. Under prolonged metabolic stress, Pak1 activity becomes impaired, contributing to disrupted ER proteostasis, cardiomyocyte apoptosis, fibrosis, and diastolic dysfunction. Mechanistically, Pak1 overexpression activates the ERK1/2–MNK1–eIF4E signaling axis, promotes translational ...

Wage differences between immigrants and natives in Austria: The role of literacy skills
This paper analyzes wage differences between natives and immigrants in Austria. First, we show that for both groups, literacy skills are an important determinant of the hourly wage. In the second step, we show that differences in proficiency with respect

We apply ex situ and in situ scanning transmission X‐ray microscopy to reveal the structural degradation of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell catalyst layers due to conditioning and thermal heating of the catalyst coated membrane. We observe a redistribution of the ionomer and carbon‐black in the catalyst layer, as well as nanoscale membrane ...

Peptide‐inspired associative polymers with arginine‐like guanidinium stickers and lysine‐like ammonium spacers undergo chain collapse and liquid‐liquid phase separation induced by reversible sticker associations. Sticker valence and tunable association strength jointly control the phase behavior, chain conformation, and interfacial cohesion of these ...

A microfluidic tumor platform integrates pharmacokinetic flow control, vascular‐like barriers, and 3D tumor spheroids to emulate in vivo drug exposure. The system reproduces dynamic concentration–time profiles and enables size‐dependent nanoparticle transport and efficacy evaluation, providing a predictive framework for assessing nanomedicine ...

Switching Spike Plasticity Shapes ACE2 Engagement Across SARS‐CoV‐2 Variants
Conformational plasticity governs SARS‐CoV‐2 spike function and ACE2 recognition. Using high‐speed AFM and single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we analyzed the ancestral spike and nine variants, revealing progressive rigidification from Delta, variable plasticity in Omicron sublineages, and JN.1 compaction.
