Revolutionizing name authority control
Proceedings of the fifth ACM conference on Digital libraries, 2000A new model has been developed for the standardization of names in bibliographic databases. This paper describes the model and its implementation and also compares it with an existing model. The results show that the new model will revolutionize name authority control and will also improve on the existing NACO model. A prototype that was developed also

Reengineering name authority control
The Electronic Library, 1999This article describes a model for the standardisation of names in bibliographic databases. A prototype that was developed to demonstrate the feasibility of the model is described. Lastly, the impact of implementing this model is investigated. It was found that the new model will revolutionise name authority control.

Theory of the Control of Structures by Low-Authority Controllers
Journal of Guidance and Control, 1978The novel idea presented is based on the observation that if a structure is controlled by distributed systems of sensors and actuators with limited authority, i.e., if the controller is allowed to modify only moderately the natural modes and frequencies of the structure, then it should be possible to apply root perturbation techniques to predict ...

On the Control of Development by Planning Authorities
Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design, 1992The degree to which local planning authorities (lpas) control development is readily measured by the refusal rate. A comparable variable, the strong refusal rate, is proposed to measure the control effected by central government ministers and their inspectors, the central planning authority (cpa), and it is shown how this may be calculated.
