On detecting the large separation in the autocorrelation of stellar oscillation times series

open access: yes, 2009
The observations carried out by the space missions CoRoT and Kepler provide a large set of asteroseismic data. Their analysis requires an efficient procedure first to determine if the star is reliably showing solar-like oscillations, second to measure ...

Sharp Diamond Needles for Single‐Photon Emission

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
We study the morphological evolution of single‐crystal diamond needles oxidized at 650–700 °C. Electron microscopy and photoluminescence reveal temperature‐ and time‐dependent sharpening, length reduction, and surface modifications affecting tip properties.

Allosteric Modulation of Pathological Ataxin‐3 Aggregation: A Path to Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type‐3 Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a new allosteric site in the Josephin domain of ataxin‐3 targeted by the molecular tweezer CLR01, which modulates protein aggregation, improves synaptic function in neuronal cells, and delays motor dysfunction in animal models.

Spatial Autocorrelation and Uncertainty Associated with Remotely-Sensed Data

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2016
Virtually all remotely sensed data contain spatial autocorrelation, which impacts upon their statistical features of uncertainty through variance inflation, and the compounding of duplicate information.

Long‐Term Active Rather than Passive Restoration Promotes Soil Organic Carbon Accumulation by Alleviating Microbial Nitrogen Limitation in an Extremely Degraded Alpine Grassland

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Active restoration increases soil organic carbon stocks by reducing microbial nitrogen limitation. Nitrogen availability promotes particulate to mineral‐associated organic carbon conversion by reducing microbial carbon use efficiency. Passive restoration has no effect on soil organic carbon stocks.

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.

HIDF: Integrating Tree‐Structured scRNA‐seq Heterogeneity for Hierarchical Deconvolution of Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The prevailing neglect of cellular hierarchies in current spatial transcriptomics deconvolution often obscures cellular heterogeneity and impedes the identification of fine‐grained subtypes. To address this issue, HIDF employs a cluster‐tree and dual regularization to systematically model cellular hierarchical structures.

New findings regarding return autocorrelation anomalies and the importance of non-trading periods [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, differences in return autocorrelation across weekdays have been investigated. Our research provides strong evidence of the importance on non-trading periods, not only weekends and holidays but also overnight closings, to explain return ...

Autocorrelation in Updating Pure SU(3) Lattice Gauge Theory by the use of Overrelaxed Algorithms

open access: yes, 1992
We measure the sweep-to-sweep autocorrelations of blocked loops below and above the deconfinement transition for SU(3) on a $16^4$ lattice using 20000-140000 Monte-Carlo updating sweeps. A divergence of the autocorrelation time toward the critical $\beta$
