Seasonal Time Series and Autocorrelation Function Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes
Time series are demeaned when sample autocorrelation functions are computed. By the same logic it would seem appealing to remove seasonal means from seasonal time series before computing sample autocorrelation functions. Yet, standard practice is only to

Inter‐microscope comparability of dental microwear texture data obtained from different optical profilometers: Part I Reproducibility of diet inference using different instruments

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA) has become a well‐established method for dietary inference and reconstruction in both extant and extinct mammals and other tetrapods. As the volume of available data continues to grow, researchers could benefit from combining published data from various studies to perform meta‐analyses.

Previously undocumented regional variability in crab‐eating macaque skull sexual dimorphism and its implications for biological and morphometric studies

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract In a large sample of adult crab‐eating macaques, we quantified sexual dimorphism in size, shape, and covariance across the whole skull and among anatomical regions of the cranium and mandible. All regions showed significant mean sex differences, but the magnitude of size and shape dimorphism varied substantially.

Blind SNR estimation for OFDM signals in cognitive radio

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2011
The traditional blind SNR estimation algorithms had problems of poor performance and high computation complexity for OFDM systems in cognitive radio with low signal to noise ratio(SNR)and multi-path channel conditions,in view of which a novel blind SNR ...

Partial autocorrelation function for spatial processes

open access: yes
Partial autocorrelation function (PACF) of a stationary two-dimensional separable process is defined. Properties of the sample partial autocorrelation function are derived, and the use of the sample PACF in identifying the orders of a spatial ...

Determinants of Difficult‐to‐Manage and Treatment‐Refractory Axial Spondyloarthritis: A Cross‐Sectional Analysis Within a Longitudinal Cohort

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective The purpose of this study was to estimate the prevalence of difficult‐to‐manage (D2M) and treatment‐refractory (TR) axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and to identify factors associated with D2M and TR disease in a longitudinal cohort. Methods We performed a cross‐sectional analysis on data from the Schroeder Arthritis Institute Spondylitis ...

Digital innovation for a greener future: the role of artificial intelligence in Europe's biofuel transition

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) development and biofuel production using a balanced panel dataset of 12 European Union (EU) countries over the 2008–2024 period. Employing feasible generalized least squares (FGLS) estimation with distributed lag specifications, the analysis controls for Renewable ...

Single‐subject designs in character education: Methods for rigorous, contextual, and practitioner‐led research

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Character education research is often constrained by blunt methodological tools. Surveys capture breadth without depth; case studies offer richness but lack replicability; and randomised controlled trials (RCTs), though indispensable at the policy level, are costly, disruptive and ill‐suited to everyday practice with individual pupils.

Asymmetric Autocorrelation Function To Resolve Directional Ambiguity In PIV Images [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Autocorrelation of a double-exposed image, unlike cross-correlation between two images, produces a correlation function that ...
