Point Autofocus Instruments

2011
A point autofocus instrument is a non-contact surface texture measuring instrument that consists of an autofocus microscope and a high precision xy scanning stage. A point autofocus instrument is capable of measuring various surfaces with different surface properties, such as reflectivity, colour and slope angle, with high resolution and high accuracy.

Stripmap phase gradient autofocus

Oceans 2003. Celebrating the Past ... Teaming Toward the Future (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37492), 2003
Current sonar autofocus techniques for blur removal originate in the radar community but have not provided a complete solution for Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) imagery. The wide-beam, wide-band nature of SAS imagery makes implementation of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) autofocus techniques difficult.

Autofocus for a multiscale gigapixel camera

Applied Optics, 2013
In recent studies, the advanced wide field of view architectures for image reconstruction and exploitation (AWARE) multiscale camera, which is composed of a monocentric objective lens and an array of microcameras, was developed for the realization of snapshot wide field of view and high resolution imaging. This paper describes accelerated autofocus (AF)

Silicon retina for autofocus

2000 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems. Emerging Technologies for the 21st Century. Proceedings (IEEE Cat No.00CH36353), 2002
This paper describes a silicon retina that measures image sharpness. The idea is to use this sensor in the image plane of an autofocusing camera system. The chip has 25/spl times/26 pixels, each (60 /spl mu/m)/sup 2/, is fabricated on a (2.2 mm)/sup 2/ 1.2 /spl mu/m CMOS process, and consumes 100 /spl mu/A with 5 V supply.

ISAR Autofocus Algorithms

2014
Autofocus allows us to generate images with better quality by automatically adjusting the image focusing parameters. For radar imaging, autofocus means to automatically correct phase errors based on collected radar returns from targets. Inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) motion compensation includes range alignment and phase adjustment.

Digital Autofocus Using Scene Content

SPIE Proceedings, 1985
A real-time digital scene based focusing algorithm, which will be implemented on the Honeywell FUR is described. Focus merit functions (FMF) which are optimal for Honeywell FUR imagery are examined. The algorithm was tested by demonstrating its capability to focus on a static scene.

Analysis of SAR autofocus performance

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
High quality focused SAR imaging dictates that the relative phase error over an aperture must be kept below a fraction of a wavelength. On most deployed SAR systems the internal measurement systems ability to measure position uncertainty is not sufficient to achieve this required precision. This necessitates an additional post-processing step of data-

Autofocus for 3D imaging

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
Three dimensional (3D) autofocus remains a significant challenge for the development of practical 3D multipass radar imaging. The current 2D radar autofocus methods are not readily extendable across sensor passes. We propose a general framework that allows a class of data adaptive solutions for 3D auto-focus across passes with minimal constraints on

Adaptive Kurtosis Optimization Autofocus Algorithm

Journal of Electronics (China), 2006
This paper proposes an autofocus algorithm used for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images, called Adaptive Kurtosis Optimization Autofocus Algorithm (AKOAA). The AKOAA can reduce the difference between initial value and real value in focusing by adaptively adjusting the initial value, therefore effectively improve the local extremum problem in the ...
