The Journal of Protozoology, 1970SYNOPSIS.The life cycles of 2 strains ofAllogromia laticollaris(CSH and TPA) raised on experimentally restricted diets have been studied. Cloned cultures of the strains differed in nutritional requirements for continuous reproduction. The TPA strain was more fecund.

Autogamy in Paramecium polycaryum
The Journal of Protozoology, 1954Mass cultures of a stock of Paramecium polycaryum maintained over a period of several years showed abundant and frequent nuclear reorganization stages resembling those of ex‐conjugant and ex‐autogamous animals of other species of Paramecium. Conjugation has never been reported for P. polycaryum, nor has it been found in these studies.

Experientia, 1961Die Atmung einzelner Pantoffeltierchen (Paramecium aurelia) aus Serien-isolierten Kulturen wurde mit Hilfe eines Cartesischen Tauchers gemessen. Die Messungen an Individuen vor und nach Autogamie (Selbstbefruchtung) zeigten, dass die Atmung nach Autogamie in signifikanter Weise ansteigt.

Induction of autogamy by transfer of macronuclear karyoplasm in Paramecium tetraurelia
Experimental Cell Research, 1983Macronuclear karyoplasm was transplanted from pre-autogamous donor cells (clonal age, 22 fissions) into the macronucleus of young recipient cells (2 fissions after autogamy occurred) by means of microinjection. A reciprocal experiment was carried out by injecting karyoplasm from young clonal age donors into pre-autogamous recipients.

Autogamy in Frontonia leucas (Ehrbg.)
The Journal of Protozoology, 1961Autogamy in Frontonia leucas is described for the first time. The process appears to occur at irregular intervals. From 7 to 10% of the individuals are affected. The beginning of autogamy is marked by a swelling of all the micronuclei which take part in the first two maturation divisions.
