Very early age autogenous shrinkage: Governed by chemical shrinkage or self-desiccation?

open access: yes, 2002
Autogenous shrinkage is often fully attributed to self-desiccation, or the lowering of internal relative humidity with age. Research at VTT has shown that autogenous shrinkage can still occur even if the humidity is at 100%, immediately after casting. Even before the setting time, measurements of autogenous deformation have been recorded.
