Autograft of the Amputated Digit
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1954Summary The case for immediate autografting of the amputated digit is restated. Four successful cases in the literature are reviewed and a further personal case is described. A plea is made for efforts to explore and extend the usefulness of this procedure. Since reporting this case a longer term follow-up has now been possible.

Autogenous bone and cartilage grafts provide the optimal material to be used in reconstruction of the skeleton. If there were an adequate supply of autogenous bone grafts of ideal size and shape, there would be no need for allograft or endoprosthetic replacements. Unfortunately, the major limitation to the use of autografts is their short supply.

Dissection in a pulmonary autograft
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2004We report the case of a type II aortic dissection involving the pulmonary autograft after a Ross procedure 6 years earlier. A dissection flap was present in both the native ascending aorta and right coronary sinus of the autograft. At reoperation, the valve was spared using a root remodeling technique.
