Automated breast ultrasound system (ABUS): can it replace mammography as a screening tool?
Background Mammography is the most accepted, accurate, and effective modality in screening of breast cancer, yet its sensitivity is affected by the density of the breast tissue.

Energy sustainability of breast ultrasound: comparison of automated and handheld ultrasound systems
Purpose: This study evaluated and compared energy consumption between automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) and handheld ultrasound (HHUS) systems during routine whole-breast ultrasound (US) examinations in clinical practice. Methods: This prospective observational study included 320 consecutive patients who underwent breast US between July and October ...

Abstract Objective Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly utilized in modern medicine. In obstetrics, their ability to interpret complex imaging, such as ultrasound images for placenta accreta spectrum (PAS), remains largely unexplored. This study aimed to investigate the capacity of multimodal LLMs to interpret sonographic images of placentae ...

Abbreviated MRI and Ultrafast MRI of the Breast
ABSTRACT Detection of breast cancer in MRI requires fast, dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) imaging covering the immediate post‐contrast phase, that is, the first 60 s after contrast injection. This ensures selective depiction of invasive cancer as well as DCIS against an otherwise dark background, that is, before background parenchymal enhancement (BPE)

Automated quality assessment in three-dimensional breast ultrasound images
Automated three-dimensional breast ultrasound (ABUS) is a valuable adjunct to x-ray mammography for breast cancer screening of women with dense breasts. High image quality is essential for proper diagnostics and computer-aided detection.

Breast Cancer Detection on Automated 3D Ultrasound with Co-localized 3D X-ray. [PDF]
X-ray mammography is the gold standard for detecting breast cancer while B-mode ultrasound is employed as its diagnostic complement. This dissertation aimed at acquiring a high quality, high-resolution 3D automated ultrasound image of the entire breast ...

Automated 3-D Ultrasound Elastography of the Breast: An In Vivo Validation Study [PDF]
Studies have indicated that adding 2-D quasi-static elastography to B-mode ultrasound imaging improved the specificity for malignant lesion detection, as malignant lesions are often stiffer (increased strain ratio) compared with benign lesions. This method is limited by its user dependency and so unsuitable for breast screening.
