The Decline of User Experience in Transition from Automated Driving to Manual Driving

open access: yesInformation, 2021
Automated driving technologies are rapidly being developed. However, until vehicles are fully automated, the control of the dynamic driving task will be shifted between the driver and automated driving system.

Survey on Scenario-Based Safety Assessment of Automated Vehicles

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
When will automated vehicles come onto the market? This question has puzzled the automotive industry and society for years. The technology and its implementation have made rapid progress over the last decade, but the challenge of how to prove the safety ...

Attention for Vision-Based Assistive and Automated Driving: A Review of Algorithms and Datasets

open access: yesIEEE transactions on intelligent transportation systems (Print), 2022
Driving safety has been a concern since the first cars appeared on the streets. Driver inattention has been singled out as a major cause of accidents early on. This is hardly surprising, as drivers routinely perform other tasks in addition to controlling

Generating Comfortable, Safe and Comprehensible Trajectories for Automated Vehicles in Mixed Traffic

open access: yes, 2018
While motion planning approaches for automated driving often focus on safety and mathematical optimality with respect to technical parameters, they barely consider convenience, perceived safety for the passenger and comprehensibility for other traffic ...

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Limited Visibility and Uncertainty Aware Motion Planning for Automated Driving

open access: yes, 2018
Adverse weather conditions and occlusions in urban environments result in impaired perception. The uncertainties are handled in different modules of an automated vehicle, ranging from sensor level over situation prediction until motion planning.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The effects of displaying availability sections of an automated driving function

open access: yesFrontiers in Future Transportation, 2023
So far, there has been little research into displaying the availability of a higher-level automated driving system. The benefits of presenting availability times while driving automatically have already been discussed, but there are no findings on giving
