CAD-based automated machinable feature extraction
Proceedings of 27th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2002Feature technology is used to bridge the gap between design and manufacturing, several approaches have been used to support the existing CAD systems. However, most of design features can not be applied to the downstream process directly. We explore an automatic scheme which can extract machinable features from CAD data and use it to determine related ...

Automated Bone Age Assessment Using Feature Extraction
2012Bone age assessment is a task performed daily in hospitals worldwide, this involves a clinician estimating the age of a patient from a radiograph of the non-dominant hand. In this paper, we propose a combination of image processing and feature extraction algorithms to automatically predict the Tanner-Whitehouse bone stage, the assessment standard used ...

Automated feature extraction of epileptic EEG using Approximate Entropy
2012 12th International Conference on Hybrid Intelligent Systems (HIS), 2012The disease epilepsy is characterized by a sudden and recurrent malfunction of the brain that is termed seizer. The electroencephalogram (EEG) signals play an important role in the diagnosis of epilepsy. Nonlinear analysis quantifies the EEG signal to address randomness and predictability of brain activity. In this study we evaluate differences between

A model-based approach for automated feature extraction in fundus images
Proceedings Ninth IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision, 2003A new approach to automatically extract the main features in color fundus images is proposed. The optic disk is localized by principal component analysis (PCA) and its shape is detected by a modified active shape model (ASM). Exudates are extracted by the combined region growing and edge detection.

Automated Extraction of Feature Models from Android Based Portable Devices
2017 IEEE International Conference on Software Quality, Reliability and Security Companion (QRS-C), 2017Domain analysis is an essential activity in software product line engineering to identify common and variable features among the products of a product family. Feature models are commonly used for depicting the identified commonalities and variations.

ECG waveform feature extraction and its application to automated prognosis
International Journal of Computer & Information Sciences, 1973Automated correlation of ECG history for early detection of heart disease, especially among the young, has been a matter of increasing interest. However, each electrocardiogram, recorded say a few months apart, generates anywhere from 600 to 2400 digitized data, so that statistical methods cannot directly be applied.

Automated feature extraction and identification of colon carcinoma.
Analytical and quantitative cytology and histology, 1998To assess an automated algorithm, developed for the classification of normal and cancerous colonic mucosa, using geometric analysis of features and texture analysis.Twenty-one images were analyzed, 10 from normal and 11 from cancerous mucosa. The classification was based on a regularity index dependent on shape, object orientation for establishing ...

Automated extraction of prosodic features and analysis for emotional states.
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009This study investigated the relationship between emotional states and prosody. A prosody detection algorithm [Choi et al., J. Acous. Soc. Am. 188, 2579–2587] was applied to extract accents and intonational boundaries automatically. The measurements used are derived from duration, pitch, harmonic structure, spectral tilt, and amplitude.

Salient feature extraction of industrial objects for an automated assembly system
Computers in Industry, 2005This paper presents a vision based human-robotic interaction (HRI) framework for the modeling and localization of industrial objects typically found in an assembly task. Automating robotic vision for complicated industrial objects is an important, yet still difficult task, especially in the stage of extracting object features.
