The wavelet analytical system developed in our institute can detect a malfunctioning bileaflet valve by analyzing the split interval (SI) of bileaflet valve sound (BLVS) caused by asynchronous closure of both leaflets. However, this system is limited in its clinical application because of the complications of both valve sound recording and analytical ...

Automation of Sound Transfer from a Tape Recorder to the Sonagraph
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1965By using a step-by-step selector relay, 2 striker pins, a fully automatic cycle is set up for transfering recorded sound from a tape player to the drum of a Sonagraph; calibrating tone is also automatically recorded on the drum. The system described in this Letter offers simplicity of operation and proved to be helpful in use.

The peak-and-decline in the density of eastern populations of Ground Parrot (Pezoporus wallicus) with increasing time since fire is one of the best-documented post-fire responses of any Australian animal. However, existing studies have typically shown this relationship within a set of sites highly likely to be occupied by Ground Parrots, rather than ...

Automated sound recorders: overview and meta-analysis
2019This project contains the supplementary materials for reproducing the results from Darras et al. "Autonomous sound recording outperforms human observation for sampling birds: a systematic map and user guide" This includes a tabular overview of available sound recorders and how their specifications compare to each other, as well as an updated meta ...

The diverse applications of audio engineering give it important implications far beyond the limits of the field. For example, ultrasonic signals can control agricultural systems, and apparently technical decisions about audio standards can exacerbate social inequities. How can noise at higher frequencies be filtered out without impairing the sensor’s
