Automated Journalism as a Source of and a Diagnostic Device for Bias in Reporting

open access: yesMedia and Communication, 2020
In this article we consider automated journalism from the perspective of bias in news text. We describe how systems for automated journalism could be biased in terms of both the information content and the lexical choices in the text, and what mechanisms

Computerized Text Analysis to Enhance Automated Pneumonia Detection

open access: yesOnline Journal of Public Health Informatics, 2013
Information about disease severity could help with both detection and situational awareness during outbreaks of acute respiratory infections. In this work, we describe the methods by which automated text analyses of chest imaging reports can combine with structured EMR data to accurately identify outpatients with pneumonia (sensitivities of 58-75%, and

Automated analysis of the rhythm of advertising text

open access: yesVerhnevolzhski Philological Bulletin, 2021
The purpose of this study is to determine the specificity of the rhythm in advertising texts based on the analysis of rhythm figures using the ProseRhythmDetector computer application, which allows to search for certain rhythm figures in a text of any nature in four languages (English, French, Russian and Spanish).

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Nanoindentation Criteria for Combinatorial Thin Film Libraries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thin‐film material libraries are compositional spreads used for screening composition‐structure‐property relationships. Nanoindentation is often used to characterize mechanical behavior across these systems, however variations in methodology are widespread.

Automated text-based analysis for decision-making research

open access: yesCognition, Technology & Work, 2011
We present results from a study on constructing and evaluating a support tool for the extraction of patterns in distributed decision -making processes, based on design criteria elicited from a study on the work process involved in studying such decision-making.

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed
