Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Steady-state 1D two-phase flow differentiable modeling: learning from field data and inverse problem applications in oil wells

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemical Engineering
Accurately modeling steady-state two-phase flow is critical for the design and operation of systems in the oil and gas industry; however, traditional models often struggle to adapt to specific field conditions.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Driving enhanced exciton transfer by automatic differentiation

open access: yesMachine Learning: Science and Technology
We model and study the processes of excitation, absorption, and transfer in various networks. The model consists of a harmonic oscillator representing a single-mode radiation field, a two-level system acting as an antenna, a network through which the ...

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Sensitivity Analysis and Optimization of High-Aspect-Ratio Wings with Respect to Mass and Stiffness Distributions

open access: yesAerospace
High-aspect-ratio wings improve aerodynamic efficiency but suffer from greater gust-induced loads, requiring innovative design methods for gust load alleviation (GLA).
