Application of reliability-based automatic repeat request to multi-class classification for brain-computer interfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A brain-computer interface (BCI) is a system which could enable patients like those with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis to control some equipment and to communicate with other people, and has been anticipated to be achieved.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Performance Analysis of Multihop CC-HARQ over Lognormal Shadowed Nakagami-m Fading Channels

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences, 2017
The performance of truncated Chase Combining based Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (CC-HARQ) in multihop relay network is analysed. Different from prior works, composite lognormal shadowed Nakagami fading channels are considered.

Cross-Layer Path Configuration for Energy-Efficient Communication over Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

open access: yesAdvances in Multimedia, 2007
We study the energy-efficient configuration of multihop paths with automatic repeat request (ARQ) mechanism in wireless ad hoc networks. We adopt a cross-layer design approach and take both the quality of each radio hop and the battery capacity of each ...

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...
