The need for automatic summarization becomes crucial with the exponential increase of data available on www and digital libraries, which makes the search for relevant pieces of information a difficult task. Therefore, needless to say, an automatic summarizer would save a lot to user and operators.

In this paper, we present a new approach for the automatic construction of video summaries. We introduce the Simulated User Principle to evaluate the quality of a video summary in a way which is automatic, yet related to user perception. We present experimental results to support our ideas.

Automatic Twitter Topic Summarization
2014 IEEE 17th International Conference on Computational Science and Engineering, 2014This paper aims to generate digests of tweets from live trending and ongoing topics. The primary purpose is to group the tweets by importance or usefulness so that an end user can be presented with a reasonable extract of the most important content from the Twitter stream.

Summarizing Conceptual Graphs for Automatic Summarization Task
2013We propose a conceptual graph-based framework for abstractive text summarization. While syntactic or partial semantic representations of texts have been used in literature, complete semantic representations have not been explored for this purpose. We use a complete semantic representation, namely, conceptual graph structures, composed of concepts and ...

Automatic Summarization: An Overview

Automatic text summarization approaches
2017 International Conference on Infocom Technologies and Unmanned Systems (Trends and Future Directions) (ICTUS), 2017Automated Text Summarization (ATS) systems are very significant in many fields in Natural Language Processing (NLP). ATS generates a shorter version of the source text that contains most of the relevant information in the original text which can help users to find the required information they are looking for saving time and resources.
