ON EQUALITY OF ABSOLUTE CENTRAL AND CLASS PRESERVING AUTOMORPHISMS OF FINITE p-GROUPS [PDF]
Let $G$ be a finite non-abelian $p$-group and $L(G)$ denotes the absolute center of $G$. Also, let $Aut^{L}(G)$ and $Aut_c(G)$ denote the group of all absolute central and the class preserving automorphisms of $G$, respectively.

Embeddings of Sz(32) in E_8(5) [PDF]
We show that the Suzuki group Sz(32) is a subgroup of E_8(5), and so is its automorphism group. Both are unique up to conjugacy in E_8(F) for any field F of characteristic 5, and the automorphism group Sz(32):5 is maximal in E_8(5)

Automorphism groups of 2-groups
It is conjectured that \(|G|\mid|\Aut(G)|\) for every nonabelian \(p\)-group \(G\). In this paper the following results are proven. Theorem. For every \(s\in\mathbb{N}\) there exists \(o(r,s)\in\mathbb{N}\) such that \(2^s\mid|G|\mid|\Aut(G)|\) for all \(2\)-groups \(G\) of coclass \(r\) and order at least \(o(r,s)\). -- Corollary.

Coxeter's enumeration of Coxeter groups
Abstract In a short paper that appeared in the Journal of the London Mathematical Society in 1934, H. S. M. Coxeter completed the classification of finite Coxeter groups. In this survey, we describe what Coxeter did in this paper and examine an assortment of topics that illustrate the broad and enduring influence of Coxeter's paper on developments in ...

Automorphism Groups of Abelian p-Groups [PDF]
Let r be the automorphism group of a nonelementary reduced abelian p-group, p > 5. It is shown that every noncentral norinal subgroup of r contains a noncentral elementary abelian normal p-subgroup of r of rank at least 2. 1. The result. Throughout the following, G is a reduced p-primary abelian group, p > 5, and F is the group of all automorphisms of ...

Combination theorems for Wise's power alternative
Abstract We show that Wise's power alternative is stable under certain group constructions, use this to prove the power alternative for new classes of groups and recover known results from a unified perspective. For groups acting on trees, we introduce a dynamical condition that allows us to deduce the power alternative for the group from the power ...

Automorphisms of the generalized cluster complex
We exhibit a dihedral symmetry in the generalized cluster complex defined by Fomin and Reading. Together with diagram symmetries, they generate the automorphism group of the complex.
