Autonomous agents for autonomic networks
annals of telecommunications - annales des télécommunications, 2006This paper deals with a multi-agent technology as a tool to introduce an autonomic behavior in network control and management. In a first section, we describe the autonomic communication paradigm, the characteristics, and the need for new architectures. Then, we focus on the differences between a classical and an autonomic network.

Contemporary findings reveal that the multiple modes of autonomic control do not lie along a single continuum extending from parasympathetic to sympathetic dominance but rather distribute within a 2-dimensional space. The physiological origins and empirical documentation for the multiple modes of autonomic control are considered.
