Expression of Autophagy-Related Proteins in Different Types of Thyroid Cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Mol Sci, 2017
Thyroid cancer is common type of malignant tumor in humans, and the autophagy status of such tumors may vary according to subtype. This study aimed to investigate the expression and implications of the major autophagy-related molecules light chain (LC) 3A, LC3B, p62, and BNIP-3 in human thyroid carcinoma.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Autophagy in Microglia and Alzheimer's disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease, characterized by amyloid-beta plaques, neurofibrillary tangles and neuroinflammation. Autophagy has been associated with several neurodegenerative diseases.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Plant homeodomain finger protein 23 inhibits autophagy and promotes apoptosis of chondrocytes in osteoarthritis

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal, 2019
. Background:. Plant homeodomain finger protein 23 (PHF23) is a novel autophagy inhibitor gene that has been few studied with respect to orthopedics. This study was to investigate the expression of PHF23 in articular cartilage and synovial tissue, and ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Optineurin functions for optimal immunity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Optineurin (OPTN) was identified 20 years ago in a yeast-two-hybrid screen with a viral protein known to inhibit the cytolytic effects of tumor necrosis factor.

Decreased expression of autophagy-related proteins in malignant epithelial ovarian cancer [PDF]

open access: yesAutophagy, 2008
Some studies have shown that the change of autophagic capacity may correlate with malignant transformation. Our study was designed to investigate the expression and significance of two autophagy-related proteins, microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3) and Beclin 1 in the tumorigenesis and development of epithelial ovarian carcinoma.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Prostaglandin F2α Induces Goat Corpus Luteum Regression via Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress and Autophagy

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2020
Corpus luteum (CL) is a transient endocrine tissue that produces progesterone for maintaining pregnancy in mammals. In addition, the regression of CL is necessary for the initiation of the estrous cycle.
