ABSTRACT Important developments in infrastructure and institutions characterized 19th‐Century wheat markets in Great Britain. Among these developments was the construction of the national rail system which enabled cheaper and more efficient transport of grain and other bulky cargoes between inland towns and ports.

The importance of considering regimes in long‐term asset allocation to real estate

Abstract We investigate the long‐term, regime‐dependent asset allocation of an investor's wealth in a mixed‐asset portfolio that includes publicly traded real estate. We show that augmenting standard VAR models with Markov‐switching features not only improves predictive power for asset returns but also introduces economically meaningful horizon effects

Warm Spring Weather Alters Calling Phenology of Four Sympatric Early‐Breeding Anurans

An unusually warm March in 2024 (“false spring”) followed by freezing temperatures allowed us to assess the impact of a weather event on an amphibian community. The calling activity of all four species was associated with increasing temperature, and the first date of calling was advanced by 11–18 days.
