Volt/VAr Regulation of the West Mediterranean Regional Electrical Grids Using SVC/STATCOM Devices With Neural Network Algorithms

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 28, Issue 2, February 2025.
ABSTRACT Reactive power compensation is now a challenging issue in maintaining adequate power quality and improving the performance of the transmission system. Many researchers have focused on the behavior of voltage in the unbalanced state, and the majority of the studies have been done with STATCOM. In this study, the increasing power demand in power

A Modular Multi‐Port Hybrid Solid‐State Transformer for Large‐Scale Renewable Power Applications

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This article proposes a four‐port solid‐state transformer (FPSST) to enhance large‐scale energy generation from renewable sources. The FPSST incorporates a modular multilevel converter to collect both medium‐voltage ac and medium voltage dc from wind and solar systems.

INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF POWER AUTOTRANSFORMERS

open access: yesVestnik Chuvashskogo universiteta, 2023
The issues of implementing effective measures to reduce losses during the operation of power electrical equipment are of particular practical interest for electric grid and industrial enterprises. It is known that power transformers have a fairly high coefficient of performance (COP) in nominal (and close to them) modes.

Reflective Efficiencies of Materials for Applications of Bifacial Solar Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The bifacial solar cell is superior to its monofacial predecessor due to its ability to convert both incident light on top and reflected light from below into energy.

Modeling and Assessing Vulnerabilities of Aircraft Cyber–Physical Power Systems Based on Complex Network Theory

open access: yesIET Electrical Systems in Transportation, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The concept of more electric aircraft (MEA) is a major trend in the aircraft industry. Compared to the conventional aircraft electrical power system (AEPS), the MEA–EPS has become more integrated and complex. The MEA–EPS demonstrates typical characteristics of a cyber–physical system (CPS) as a result of the implementation of intelligent management and

A Deep Learning Approach for the Automated Classification of Geomagnetically Induced Current Scalograms

open access: yesApplied Sciences
During geomagnetic storms, which are a result of solar wind’s interaction with the Earth’s magnetosphere, geomagnetically induced currents (GICs) begin to flow in the long, high-voltage electrical networks on the Earth’s surface.

Systematic Implementation and Performance Evaluation of Multiphase Power Converter in Medium Voltage Drive System

open access: yesIET Energy Systems Integration, Volume 7, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
ABSTRACT Investigation of power converters for use in industrial drive applications finds that these converters are used low reliable components. To overcome this issue, in this paper, advanced power converters (multi‐pulse AC–DC and multilevel DC–AC converter) are developed and implemented to feed vector‐controlled induction motor drive (VCIMD), which
