Use of Alternating Current Spinning to Prepare Carbon Nanofibers From Commercial PAN Fibers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 142, Issue 31, August 15, 2025.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to explore the potential of recycling commercial polyacrylonitrile fibers through electrospinning to produce carbon nanofibers (CNFs). We evaluated the feasibility of producing bulk nanofiber layers from recycled polymer and optimized the process to achieve an optimal solution concentration (10 wt%).

Geomagnetically Induced Currents, Transformer Harmonics, and Reactive Power Impacts of the Gannon Storm in May 2024

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 23, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract Geomagnetically induced current (GIC) measurements made at two 3 phase, 3 limb transformers, operating in the Halfway Bush substation in Dunedin, New Zealand have been analyzed during the May 2024 Gannon Storm. GIC measurements were combined with very low frequency radio wave AC harmonic measurements made nearby, and reactive power ...

A Modular Multi‐Port Hybrid Solid‐State Transformer for Large‐Scale Renewable Power Applications

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This article proposes a four‐port solid‐state transformer (FPSST) to enhance large‐scale energy generation from renewable sources. The FPSST incorporates a modular multilevel converter to collect both medium‐voltage ac and medium voltage dc from wind and solar systems.

Wavelet analysis of geomagnetically induced currents during the strong geomagnetic storms

open access: yesRussian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2022
The main problem of electric utilities around the world is to ensure continuous power supply to consumers. One of the causes of power outages and blackouts can be geomagnetic storms during periods of the increased solar activity.
