Renal autotransplantation

BJU International, 2004
The Department of Urology in the Lahey Clinic has a considerable reputation in the treatment of renovascular conditions, and this month they have produced a review of renal autotransplantation. This interesting, if infrequently used, surgical technique is potentially useful to urologists in several different situations.

Renal Autotransplantation

European Urology, 1982
The progress of renal transplantation has made possible the development of autotransplant and extracorporeal surgery. This has allowed us to find a new tactical solution to those cases in which conservative conventional surgery was impossible or useless, including those cases where the only solution used to be nephrectomy or high urinary diversion.

Laparoscopic-assisted renal autotransplantation

Urology, 2004
To report our experience with laparoscopic nephrectomy and autotransplantation for the management of a variety of conditions with significant loss of healthy ureteral tissue or ureteral length. Renal autotransplantation has been described as an effective method for addressing this problem, avoiding the need for nephrectomy or complex ureteral ...

Erythropoietin after renal autotransplantation

The American Journal of Surgery, 1968
Abstract Ten dogs were subjected to bilateral nephrectomy followed by reimplantation of one kidney into the neck of the animal. The dogs were bled to an average hematocrit of 25.7 per cent and the plasma assayed for erythropoietin activity. Ten control dogs were similarly bled to an average hematocrit of 22.7 per cent and the plasma was assayed.

Renal Autotransplantation: Current Perspectives

Journal of Urology, 1977
Autotransplantation, with or without an extracorporeal renal operation, has been done 39 times in 37 patients. Indications for the procedure included several ureteral injury in 4 patients, failed supravesical diversion in 2, renal carcinoma in a solitary kidney in 1, renovascular hypertension in 1 and donor arterial reconstruction before renal ...

Minimally invasive renal autotransplantation

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2015
Minimally invasive renal allotransplantation techniques have been recently described; reported benefits include reduced morbidity/complications. These benefits have been successfully adapted for minimally invasive renal autotransplantation, however, in a non‐oncological setting.

Renal salvage through autotransplantation

Urology, 1974
Abstract In a case of carcinoma involving a solitary kidney renal salvage was accomplished with bench surgery and autotransplantation. This method should have clinical application in a variety of urologic problems.

Renal Autotransplantation for Recurrent Renal Colic

Journal of Urology, 1980
Renal autotransplantation as an alternative to ileal interposition has been done successfully in patients with repetitive episodes of renal colic. Urinary tract continuity has been re-established by anastomosis of a Boari tube directly to the renal pelvis. This has resulted in easy egress of recurrent calculi without pain.

Ureteral Motility after Renal Autotransplantation

European Urology, 1982
Twelve kidneys were autotransplanted to the internal iliac vessels in 11 patients for the treatment of renovascular hypertension. The ureter had been left unresected in all but one case, where a transuretero-ureterostomy was performed. A radiographic study of the ureteral motility was obtained during the postoperative period recording images every 1.5 ...

Renal Autotransplantation

Archives of Surgery, 1972
Three cases of ex vivo renovascular repair occurred. This technique resulted in better exposure of the segmental branches of the renal vessels and permitted definitive repair. The first case consisted of vascular reconstruction of a hilar injury of a solitary kidney.
