PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

The Study of Reproduction, Fecundity and Diet in 3 Species of Kilka in the Southern Part of the Caspian Sea (BoboIsar Region)

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 1997
Considering the large population of kilka in the Caspian Sea and their role in the survival of ecosystem, it is important to know their biological characteristics as a basic information in the fisheries research activities.

Seasonal reversal in phytoplankton assembly mechanisms: stochastic dominance in autumn vs. deterministic control in spring within the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Phytoplankton communities play a crucial role in riverine ecosystems, yet their assembly mechanisms in high-silt environments remain poorly understood.

An introduction to the abelian Reidemeister torsion of three-dimensional manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
These notes accompany some lectures given at the autumn school "Tresses in Pau" in October 2009. The abelian Reidemeister torsion for 3-manifolds, and its refinements by Turaev, are introduced.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Near-surface remote sensing of spatial and temporal variation in canopy phenology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
There is a need to document how plant phenology is responding to global change factors, particularly warming trends. “Near-surface” remote sensing, using radiometric instruments or imaging sensors, has great potential to improve phenological monitoring ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
