Auxiliary Selection

Language and Linguistics Compass, 2007
Abstract Few syntactic phenomena are relevant to as many areas of linguistic theory as auxiliary selection – the alternation between auxiliaries in periphrastic constructions. Standing at the intersection between syntax, lexical and clausal semantics and morphology, it has been the subject of intense research since the late 1970s and ...

Automata with Auxiliary Weights

International Journal of Foundations of Computer Science, 2016
We introduce a new generalization of weighted automata – automata with auxiliary weights. They allow to compute several quantities not directly computable over semirings by generalizing both semiring addition and semiring multiplication. Moreover, our automata retain key properties of ordinary weighted automata.

Effectively Eliminating Auxiliaries

2016
Auxiliary variables are used in the intermediate steps of a correctness proof to store additional information about the computation. We investigate for which classes of programs auxiliary variables can be avoided in the associated proof system, and give effective translations of proofs whenever this is the case.

Bubble Electrospinning with an Auxiliary Electrode and an Auxiliary Air Flow

Recent Patents on Nanotechnology, 2020
Background: The patented bubble electrospinning, which is a simple and effective technique for mass-production of polymer nanofibers, has been studying extensively, but it is still under development. In the bubble electrospinning, multiple jets move from the positive electrode to the receptor, a long distance between the two electrodes is needed to ...

Auxiliaries

1993
Abstract Offering a new perspective on auxiliaries in particular and language structure in general, this study argues that language cannot be explained satisfactorily with reference to linguistic variables alone; what is required in addition are extra-linguistic parameters relating to how we perceive the world around us, and how we ...
