An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Three levels of root insertion in Basque intransitive verbs

open access: yesJournal of Portuguese Linguistics, 2012
Intransitive verbs in Basque vary depending on their subject case and auxiliary selection: (i) some of them (considered unaccusatives and inchoatives) always have an absolutive subject and an intransitive auxiliary; (ii) others (prototypical unergatives)

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Semı-Fıxed Temporary Bıte Rısıng Auxılıary

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Orthodontics, 1995
During fixed appliance treatments of some cases such as deep-bite, scisors bite or lingual cross-bite it is necessary to open the bite temporary, to prevent bracket shearing or to permit easy tooth movement.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Influence of film forming substrate on self-organized gradient structure of fluoroacrylate/polyurethane composite emulsion

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2019
Fluoroacrylate/polyurethane composite emulsion (FPAPU) were synthesized by miniemulsion polymerization. The effect of four kinds of materials with different surface properties (aluminum plate, stainless steel plate, PTFE plate and glass plate) on the ...

L’item « yɛ » du miyobé (Togo/Bénin) : verbe plein, auxiliaire ou auxiliant ?

open access: yesCorela, 2014
In Miyobe, a language spoken in Togo and Benin, “yɛ” is often considered as a syntactic unit whose linguistic identification is as yet unclear. It is translated either as "to be", or "auxiliant" or again "auxiliary".

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
