Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Optimal Configuration of Different Energy Storage Batteries for Providing Auxiliary Service and Economic Revenue

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Energy storage providing auxiliary service at the user-side has broad prospects in support of national polices. Three auxiliary services are selected as the application scene for energy storage participating in demand management, peak shaving and demand ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

A Bi-Level Optimized Dispatching Method for Grids with High Penetration of New Energy Considering Ancillary Service Costs

open access: yesEnergies
To address the issue of high auxiliary service costs caused by the grid connection of new energy generation, a dual layer optimization scheduling method for high penetration new energy power grids is proposed, taking into account the auxiliary service ...

Numerical Investigation on Rock-Fracturing Mechanism by Using Splitter under Hole Assistance

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
In this work, a numerical model of rock breaking under hole assistance was established based on the finite element method (FEM) coupling with smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) to reveal rock-breaking mechanisms and analyze the reasons for crack ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Auxiliary field methods in supersymmetric non-linear sigma models [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2005
Auxiliary field methods in D=2 (or 3), N=2 supersymmetric (SUSY) nonlinear sigma models (NLSMs) are studied. For these models auxiliary fields as Lagrange multipliers belong to a vector or a chiral superfield, which gives a Kahler quotient of complexified gauge group or a holomorphic constraint on it, respectively.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
