Viscosity of concentrated mRNA solutions: Implications for downstream processing

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
Abstract Messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutics can be used to protect against infectious disease and for the treatment of cancers and genetic disorders. In order to obtain the desired therapeutic dosage, it is necessary to concentrate the mRNA to levels where the viscosity of the mRNA solutions can become significant.

[Avalanche accidents and treatment of avalanche victims].

open access: yesTidsskrift for den Norske laegeforening : tidsskrift for praktisk medicin, ny raekke, 2016
Avalanches may be provoked spontaneously or as a result of human activity, and they trigger the need for considerable rescue resources. Avalanche search and rescue operations are complex and characterised by physical and mental stress. The guidelines for resuscitation of avalanche victims may be perceived as complex and abstruse, which can lead to ...

Embedding a Dinuclear Ru─Pt Photocatalyst Into Polyampholytic Graft Copolymer Matrix Enables Prolonged Hydrogen Evolution While Allowing Catalyst Repair

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A unimolecular polyampholytic graft copolymer matrix provides a protective confinement for an electrostatically embedded tetrapyridophenazine‐bridged heterodinuclear Ru‐Pt hydrogen evolving photocatalyst. The matrix slows the degradation kinetics of the catalyst and at the same time does not hinder its repair by ammonium persulfate.

Dynamic Calibration of DEM Simulations Using Rotating Drum Experiments Using the Mean Absolute Error

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Calibrating DEM simulations is challenging due to unknown microscopic parameters. Rotating drum experiments are combined with image‐based analysis and Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS). An area‐based Mean Absolute Error (MAE) enables reliable identification of optimal parameter sets.

Combining paleoecology and modeling to explore cascading disturbances in forest ecosystems

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Climate‐induced cascading disturbance interactions pose a major challenge to the sustainable provision of forest ecosystem services to society. Developing a deeper understanding and enhanced capacity to simulate these interactions is essential for identifying disturbance‐induced tipping points in forest ecosystems, and for improving management in ...

Avalanche Forces and the Protection of Objects

open access: yes, 1967
This contribution is addressed primarily to the practical man who comes into contact with the problems of avalanche effects on structures in the course of his professional work in the mountains.

Ag‐Induced Phase and Defect Engineering of Co‐Evaporated Sb2Se3 Thin Films for Enhanced Photovoltaic Performance

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The sequential formation of Ag2Se and AgSbSe2 phases at the Sb2Se3/Mo interface upon Ag incorporation in co‐evaporated Sb2Se3 solar cells promotes grain growth and defect passivation. These newly formed intermediate phases enhance crystallinity and suppress recombination, leading to significant improvements in open‐circuit voltage, fill factor, and ...

Avalanche-like behavior of up-conversion luminescence by nonlinear coupling of pumping rates

open access: yes, 2019
Here we report and discuss the avalanche-like up-conversion behavior in absence of the avalanche. We experimentally observed significant changes in the slope of the curve for the intensity dependence of up-conversion luminescence of erbium ions in green ...

A Robust Densification Strategy Toward Ultrahigh Energy Density in All‐Organic Dielectric Polymer Films

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A scalable densification strategy is proposed by incorporating sucrose into a fluoropolymer matrix to build a robust hydrogen‐bond crosslinking network. The intermolecular interactions effectively facilitate polar phase transformation and reduce free volume fraction.

Observations of avalanche impact pressures

open access: yes, 1973
Observations were made of impact pressures produced by well developed dry snow avalanches. The equipment is described and preliminary results of two years observations are summarized.
