Alternative Food for Litter‐Inhabiting Predators Decreases Thrips Densities and Above‐Ground Plant Damage

We studied predatory soil mites that control the thrips Frankliniella occidentalis. Thrips densities were significantly reduced by the predator Cosmolaelaps sabelisi. It presumably feeds on prepupae and pupae in the soil and on larvae aboveground.

Natural disaster risk salience and the strategic appointment of directors with sustainability expertise

Abstract This article examines how salient sustainability risks from near‐miss natural disasters influence board composition. Using a difference‐in‐differences design, I find that firms located in counties neighboring disaster‐affected areas significantly increase the presence of directors with sustainability expertise following the disaster.

Abstract Our study works towards a ‘sociology of organizational professionals’ by elucidating how they navigate domains dominated by occupational professionals. It shows that relational tactics impact whether organizational professionals remain limited to a periphery, become subservient to occupational professionals, or achieve durable roles.
