THE MAIN STATISTIC INDICATORS ANALYSIS THAT CHARACTERIZE THE MAIZE CROP IN ROMANIA, IRAK AND WORLDWIDE [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Papers Series : Management, Economic Engineering in Agriculture and Rural Development, 2014
The maize crop is one of the most important cultivated crops, with a great importance in agriculture and economics. In this paper were treated aspects regarding the cultivated area and the average production obtained in three focus areas, namely ...

Average luminosity distance in inhomogeneous universes

open access: yes, 2010
The paper studies the correction to the distance modulus induced by inhomogeneities and averaged over all directions from a given observer. The inhomogeneities are modeled as mass-compensated voids in random or regular lattices within Swiss-cheese ...

Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...

The Effects of Piezoelectricity Matrix Constants on the Charge of a Thin Membrane

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering, 2017
This article is devoted to the comparison of the influence of the piezoelectric matrix properties on the magnitude of the resulting charge when a thin piezoelectric membrane of circular cross section, made from aluminium gallium nitride (Al-GaN), is ...

Central tendency and variability in biological systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Community Hospital Internal Medicine Perspectives, 2015
In this article, the author reviews the manner in which researchers characterize data. Normality, standard deviation, mean, and other concepts related to parametric statistics are discussed in common language, with a minimum of jargon and with clinical ...

Distributed Autoregressive Moving Average Graph Filters

open access: yes, 2015
We introduce the concept of autoregressive moving average (ARMA) filters on a graph and show how they can be implemented in a distributed fashion.

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Univariate Lp and ɭ p Averaging, 0 < p < 1, in Polynomial Time by Utilization of Statistical Structure

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2012
We present evidence that one can calculate generically combinatorially expensive Lp and lp averages, 0 < p < 1, in polynomial time by restricting the data to come from a wide class of statistical distributions.

Optimal strategies in the average consensus problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We prove that for a set of communicating agents to compute the average of their initial positions (average consensus problem), the optimal topology of communication is given by a de Bruijn's graph. Consensus is then reached in a finitely many steps.
