Avian Influenza a H9N2 Viruses in Morocco, 2018–2019

open access: yesViruses, 2022
Low pathogenic H9N2 avian influenza (LPAI H9N2) is considered one of the most important diseases found in poultry (broiler, laying hens, breeding chickens, and turkeys). This infection causes considerable economic losses.

PATHOLOGY OF SPONTANEOUS CASES OF AVIAN TRANSMISSIBLE TUBULONEPHROSIS

open access: yesThe Japanese Journal of Veterinary Science, 1972

Paleopathology of a putative colossosaurian caudal vertebra (Neosauropoda: Titanosauria) from the Presidente Prudente Formation, Brazil

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Studies investigating paleopathologies in sauropods remain scarce despite their relative abundance in the fossil record. In this study we report new occurrence of paleopathological features, corresponding to a neoplasm found in a middle caudal vertebra (MCT.R.2120) of an advanced titanosaur from the Presidente Prudente Formation (Bauru Basin ...

Pathological and Immunohistochemical Diagnosis of an Intestinal Leiomyosarcoma in a Zebra Finch

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Veterinary Pathology, 2014
An adult male Zebra finch (Taeniopygia guttata) with blood in the feces was examined for an internal mass in the abdominal caudal region near to the cloaca. During the necropsy, a large tumor mass around the large intestine was observed.

The Role of miRNAs in Chicken Immune Regulation and Prospects for Disease‐Resistant Breeding

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
A schematic workflow illustrating the screening of disease‐resistant miRNAs and the generation of miRNA‐based disease‐resistant chickens via PGC‐mediated germline genome editing. ABSTRACT MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are emerging as pivotal regulators of the immune system, playing a decisive role in shaping disease resistance in chicken.

Heat Stress and Gut Microbiome Dynamics in Poultry: Interplay, Consequences, and Mitigation Strategies

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Heat stress disrupts gut microbial balance in poultry, impairing nutrient absorption and immunity. This review outlines the interplay between thermal stress and microbiome dynamics and discusses integrative mitigation strategies, probiotics, phytogenics, cooling systems, and genetic adaptation to enhance poultry resilience.

Prevalence of antibodies against chicken anaemia virus (CAV) in broiler breeders in Southern Brazil Prevalência de anticorpos contra o vírus da anemia das galinhas (CAV) em matrizes de corte no Sul do Brasil

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira, 2004
Chicks infected during the first two weeks of life with chicken anaemia virus (CAV) manifest clinical disease that can be avoided if the breeder hens transfer enough antibodies to their progeny.

Integrating One Health to Mitigate the Emergence and Spread of Antimicrobial Resistance in Livestock and Aquaculture

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an escalating global threat driven by antimicrobial use in aquaculture and livestock. Resistant pathogens and genes can spread across humans, animals, and the environment through interconnected ecosystems. Using a One Health approach, this review emphasizes antimicrobial stewardship, regulatory strengthening, enhanced ...
