Biogeographical patterns in the seasonality of bird collisions with aircraft

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence
Bird collisions with aircraft pose a serious threat to human safety. However, broad‐scale patterns in how bird strikes might vary through space and time have yet to be fully understood. Here, we conducted a biogeographical study of bird strikes to answer

Gate tunable MoS2 memristive neuron for early fusion of visual and acoustic signals spiking neural network

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
Current brain‐inspired computing chips require complex additional circuits to operate effectively, making them bulky and inefficient. We have created a single adjustable artificial neuron device made from MoS2 that can dynamically modulate its behavior on demand, eliminating the need for extra circuits and enabling it to process different types of ...

Does AI at Work Increase Stress? Text Mining Social Media About Human–AI Team Processes and AI Control

open access: yesJournal of Organizational Behavior, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With rising use of artificial intelligence (AI) in organizations, alongside increasing mental health issues, we seek to understand how AI use affects human stress. Drawing on the automation–augmentation perspective, we propose that AI control over decision‐making thwarts human autonomy and thus contributes to stress.

Aviation Security: Illusion of Safety or Reality?

open access: yesLectio Socialis, 2019
Security is a complicated concept where people have to be secure and also feel it. Serious risk calculations determine the fact but also the feeling has to be included in the policy development.

Bio‐Based Epoxy Resins from Estragole: Achieving High Glass Transition Temperatures Comparable to DGEBA and Simultaneously Low Viscosities

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Two novel bio‐based epoxy monomers, diglycidyl‐4‐allylphenol (DG‐4A) and triglycidyl‐diallylphenol (TG‐DA), derived from estragole (92% and 72% bio‐content), were synthesized and cured with isophorone diamin (IPDA) and 4,4´‐diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS). The resins show high Tgs, with DG‐4A reaching and TG‐DA exceeding DGEBA‐based systems. These resins

Mechanical and Electrochemical Performance of a PETEA‐Based Solid‐State Electrolyte for Multifunctional Structural Battery Composites

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
Multifunctional structural battery composites can store electrical energy while bearing mechanical loads, thereby reducing parasitic mass and volume. We present a novel solid‐state PETEA‐based electrolyte, which can be cured in situ after infiltration into the reinforcement fibers in its monomer form.
