Leaf Photosynthesis of the Mangrove Avicennia Germinans as Affected by NaCl

open access: yesPhotosynthetica, 1999
In leaves of the mangrove species Avicennia germinans (L.) L. grown in salinities from 0 to 40 ‰, fluorescence, gas exchange, and δ13C analyses were done. Predawn values of Fv/Fm were about 0.75 in all the treatments suggesting that leaves did not suffer chronic photoinhibition.

Allometric Models of Aboveground Biomass in Mangroves Compared with Those of the Climate Action Reserve Standard Applied in the Carbon Market

open access: yesResources
The standardized methods used in carbon markets require measurement of the biomass and carbon stored in trees, which can be quantified through allometric equations.

Comportamiento estacional de bacterias en sedimentos de mangle negro Avicennia germinans

open access: yesMadera y Bosques

GROWTH, ALLOMETRY AND SURVIVAL OF Avicennia germinans L. SEEDLINGS IN CARDENAS, TABASCO, MEXICO

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2022
Background. The mangrove forest is a mixture of tree and shrub species which inhabit the coastal areas of the tropics and subtropics, around estuaries and coastal lagoons, near the mouths of rivers, with another different capacities than the tolerance of salinity. Despite its ecological and social importance, it is one of the ecosystems most threatened

Mangrove forest structure organisation in a monospecific stand of the black mangrove Avicennia germinans (L.) Stearn in the Cameroon estuary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
One of the major components of forest stand structure is the spatial arrangement of tree positions and the distribution pattern of species. Avicennia (Acanthaceae) is considered an important colonizer of new areas.

Mangal communities of the "Salgado Paraense": Ecological heterogeneity along the Bragança peninsula assessed through soil and leaf analyses

open access: yes, 2001
Mangroves in the Bragança peninsula occur in a variety of environmental settings differing in tidal influence and fresh water run-off. The construction of a paved road running through the middle of the peninsula modified the transversal flow of water ...

Organic composition and environmental conditions in mangrove sediments : a key for reconstructing the evolution of theFrench Guiana coast.

open access: yes, 2001
Le littoral guyanais présente une dynamique sédimentaire remarquable résultant du système dispersif amazonien. Une mangrove, essentiellement composée d'Avicennia germinans, se développe sur les bancs de vase.

Seed Germination of Avicennia Marina (Forsk.) Vierh. by Pericarp Removal Treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Avicennia marina is one species used for building coastal ecosystem stabilization in Surabaya shores because of its tolerance to high salinity level and resistance to wave energy. Their existence is threatened by various factors i.e.
