Avrainvilleol, a brominated diphenylmethane derivative with feeding deterrent properties from the tropical green alga avrainvillea longicaulis

Phytochemistry, 1983
Abstract A new brominated diphenylmethane derivative, avrainvilleol, has been isolated from the green alga Avrainvillea longicaulis , and its structure determined by chemical and spectral methods. Avrainvilleol was toxic toward reef fishes at 10 μg/ml levels, showed antibacterial activity and at 800 ppm induced significant feeding deterrence in the ...

5'-Hydroxyisoavrainvilleol, a New Diphenylmethane Derivative from the Tropical Green Alga Avrainvillea nigricans

Journal of Natural Products, 1987
A new brominated diphenylmethane, 5'-hydroxyisoavrainvilleol, was isolated from the tropical green macrophyte, Avrainvillea nigricans, using conventional chromatographic techniques. The structure is based on a combination of spectrochemical arguments, including a detailed analysis of the long range 1H-13C coupling constants.

Avrainvilloside, a 6-Deoxy-6-aminoglucoglycerolipid from the Green Alga Avrainvillea nigricans

Journal of Natural Products, 2005
Fractionation of the organic extract obtained from the Dominican green alga Avrainvillea nigricans led to the isolation of avrainvilloside (2), a new glycoglycerolipid bearing the extremely rare 6-deoxy-6-aminoglucose moiety. The structure of avrainvilloside has been established on the basis of spectroscopic data and methanolysis/GC-MS analysis.

Isorawsonol and Related IMP Dehydrogenase Inhibitors from the Tropical Green Alga Avrainvillea rawsonii

Journal of Natural Products, 1994
Guided by inhibitory activity against IMP dehydrogenase (IMPDH), a new brominated diphenylmethane derivative, isorawsonol, has been isolated from the tropical green alga Avrainvillea rawsonii. Its structure was determined by detailed spectroscopic analysis including HMQC and HMBC.

Halo-phenolic metabolites and their in vitro antioxidant and cytotoxic activities from the Red Sea alga Avrainvillea amadelpha

Zeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 2021
Abstract From the green alga Avrainvillea amadelpha, two new naturally halo-benzaldehyde derivatives were isolated by various chromatographic methods along with 10 known metabolites of bromophenols, sulfonoglycolipid, and steroids.

Rawsonol, an inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase from the tropical green alga Avrainvillea rawsoni

Phytochemistry, 1989
Abstract A novel brominated diphenyl methane derivative, rawsonol, has been isolated from the green alga Avrainvillea rawsoni , and its structure determined by chemical and spectral methods. Rawsonol which is a methyl ether formed via condensation/methylation of two molecules of the known metabolite avrainvilleol, inhibited the activity of 3-hydroxy-

Avrainvillea calithina (Udoteaceae, Bryopsidales), a new green alga from Lord Howe Island, NSW, Australia

Phycologia, 1985
Abstract A new species, Avrainvillea calithina, is described from Lord Howe Island and the southern Great Barrier Reef in eastern Australia. A member of the ‘longicaulis’ group of the genus, it is distinguished from its closest relatives by the ‘sugar-scoop’ form of the mature blades and the extremely cohesive outer siphon layers (pseudocortex) which ...

True identity of Avrainvillea and Rhipilia (Bryopsidales, Chlorophyta) from the Coast of Bahia, Brazil

Phytotaxa, 2015
The coast of Bahia is the most extensive coastline in Brazil. There is great diversity in its coastal environments and these are considered to be a priority area for floristic surveys. Although representative species of the Avrainvillea and Rhipilia (Bryopsidales, Chlorophyta) genera are common in tropical and temperate marine habitats where they form ...

Avrainvillea rotumensis sp. nov. (Bryopsidales, Chlorophyta), a peltate species from the South Pacific

Phycological Research, 1996
SUMMARYA new species of Avrainvillea was found on the South Pacific island of Rotuma, Fiji. Avrainvillea rotumensis sp. nov. occurs 1.5‐3.0 m deep in a high energy current area of the Hoféa Passage, one of the few openings in the fringing reef that surrounds the island. The distinctive peltate growth habit of A.
