Patellar Avulsion Fracture

open access: yesCureus, 2023
We report on the case of a 52-year-old male who sustained a transverse patellar fracture after tripping on uneven pavement. These fractures can be easy to miss on anteroposterior views, highlighting the importance of multiple radiographic views of the knee. Examination of the knee is also important, as initial clinical appearance can be benign.

Avulsion cycles and their stratigraphic signature on an experimental backwater‐controlled delta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
River deltas grow in large part through repeated cycles of lobe construction and channel avulsion. Understanding avulsion cycles is important for coastal restoration and ecology, land management, and flood hazard mitigation.

Anabranching and maximum flow efficiency in Magela Creek, northern Australia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Anabranching is the prevailing river pattern found along alluvial tracts of the world's largest rivers. Hydraulic geometry and bed material discharge are compared between single channel and anabranching reaches up to 4 times bank-full discharge in Magela
