Patellar Avulsion Fracture. [PDF]

open access: yesCureus, 2023
We report on the case of a 52-year-old male who sustained a transverse patellar fracture after tripping on uneven pavement. These fractures can be easy to miss on anteroposterior views, highlighting the importance of multiple radiographic views of the knee. Examination of the knee is also important, as initial clinical appearance can be benign.

Posterior cruciate ligament mediated avulsion fracture of the lateral tibial condyle: a case report [PDF]

open access: goldJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2010
Avulsion fractures of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) are uncommon. On the basis of the site of damage of the PCL, hyperflexion, pretibial trauma, and hyperextension are proposed as mechanisms of PCL injuries.

A rare case of symptomatic nonunion of avulsion fracture of the posterior medial meniscus root with concomitant posterior cruciate ligament injury

open access: yesJournal of Medical Sciences, 2021
The menisci are the essential structures of the knee joint because they disperse body weight and reduce friction during the movement. An avulsion fracture of the posterior medial meniscus root, also known as meniscal ossicles, can lead to meniscal ...

Calcaneal avulsion fracture [PDF]

open access: yesEmergency Medicine Journal, 2007
Calcaneal avulsion fractures may occur spontaneously, most often in patients with diabetes. The fracture may be missed because of the absence of trauma and the absence of tenderness in either malleolus. Operative fixation is usually required. A 59-year-old woman with diabetes presented …
