Cortical Excitability Before and After Long‐Term Perampanel Treatment for Epilepsy
ABSTRACT Objective Antiseizure medications (ASMs), which may influence cortical excitability, are the mainstay of epilepsy treatment. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) helps evaluate cortical excitability. We assessed changes in TMS responses using serial TMS measurements in people treated with an adjunctive noncompetitive AMPA‐receptor ...

A Layered Modeling and Simulation Approach to investigate Resource-aware Computing in MPSoCs [PDF]
Increasing complexity of modern multi-processor system on chip (MPSoC) and the decreasing feature size have introduced new challenges. System designers have to consider now aspects which were not part of the design process in past times. Resource-aware Computing is one of such emerging design concerns which can help to improve performance ...

Action notes: No. 6: Constitutions [PDF]
Before an organisation can draw up a constitution, it must decide what kind of organisation it wants to be. An organisation can be a legally constituted organisation which registers with government bodies or it can be an organisation by constitution ...

ABSTRACT Objective Quantitative markers of cortical excitability may help identify responders to anti‐seizure medications (ASMs). We studied the relationship between ASM load and two electroencephalography (EEG) markers of cortical excitability in people with refractory epilepsy. Methods We included individuals with refractory focal epilepsy undergoing

HPDL Variant Type Correlates With Clinical Disease Onset and Severity
ABSTRACT Objective Recently, a mitochondrial encephalopathy due to biallelic HPDL variants was described, associated with a broad range of clinical manifestations ranging from severe, infantile‐onset neurodegeneration to adolescence‐onset hereditary spastic paraplegia. HPDL converts 4‐hydroxyphenylpyruvate acid (4‐HPPA) into 4‐hydroxymandelate (4‐HMA),

This study aims to explore the feasibility of using a structure inspired by the features of horsetail and human spine as the potential helmet liner, targeting at mitigation of acceleration‐induced injuries. A parametric study is conducted to investigate the effect of individual geometrical variables in the design, indicating its capability to reduce ...

Epidemic paradox induced by awareness driven network dynamics [PDF]
We study stationary epidemic processes in scale-free networks with local awareness behavior adopted by only susceptible, only infected, or all nodes. We find that while the epidemic size in the susceptible-aware and the all-aware models scales linearly with the network size, the scaling becomes sublinear in the infected-aware model.
