DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF OPTICAL SWITCH FOR DATA CENTER NETWORKS INCORPORATING ACO-OFDM WITH PAPR REDUCTION [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2018
Currently optical data centers heavily rely on electronics for information transfer. In near future electronic switching will face problem in supporting higher data rates. Therefore, a slow migration from electronic to optical switching has been observed.

Low‐Intensity Physical Activity and Sarcopenia Risk in Aging Populations: A Nationally Representative Study From China

open access: yesGeriatrics &Gerontology International, Volume 26, Issue 5, May 2026.
In 6018 Chinese adults aged ≥ 60 years from China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), 150–299 min/week of low‐intensity physical activity halved sarcopenia risk, whereas high‐intensity activity showed adverse associations. Regardless of sarcopenia status, ≥ 300 min/week of physical activity reduced 10‐year all‐cause mortality.

AWG has funds for lectures

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1990
The Association for Women Geoscientists announces that funding is available for the second year of the Phillips‐AWG Distinguished Lectures. Phillips Petroleum has given the AWG Foundation a $9000 grant over 3 years to underwrite travel for women geoscientists participating as speakers.Grants of up to $300 for direct travel costs will be available on a ...

Super-resolution AWGs based on the Moiré effect

open access: yesOptics Express
Enhancing spectral resolution in a conventional arrayed waveguide grating AWG requires a longer differential optical path, which expands the device footprint and increases sensitivity to phase noise. To overcome this limitation, we propose an innovative approach that maintains the AWG layout and overall device size by leveraging the Moiré effect ...

Image denoising with multi-layer perceptrons, part 1: comparison with existing algorithms and with bounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Image denoising can be described as the problem of mapping from a noisy image to a noise-free image. The best currently available denoising methods approximate this mapping with cleverly engineered algorithms.
