CFD Numerical Simulation of the Complex Turbulent Flow Field in an Axial-Flow Water Pump

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
Further optimal design of an axial-flow water pump calls for a thorough recognition of the characteristics of the complex turbulent flow field in the pump, which is however extremely difficult to be measured using the up-to-date experimental techniques ...

Multi-parameter analysis of the effects on hydraulic performance and hemolysis of blood pump splitter blades

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
The splitter blade can effectively optimize pump performance, but there is still insufficient research in blood pumps that cover both hydraulic and hemolysis performance. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of key factors related to

Numerical Analysis of Flow Characteristics in Impeller-Guide Vane Hydraulic Coupling Zone of an Axial-Flow Pump as Turbine Device

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
An axial-flow pump as a turbine (PAT), as compared to the conventional Francis turbine, has the advantages of not being restricted by the terrain and having lower cost to reverse the pump as a turbine for power generation.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Effect of damping groove on flow dynamics and vibration characteristics of axial piston pump

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
This paper presents pressure, flow and vibration characteristics of an axial piston pump valve plate with damping grooves. For flow ripple and vibration of the pump reduction, an improved compressible fluid model of axial-piston pump with damping groove ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Multi-Parameter Optimization Design of Axial-Flow Pump Based on Orthogonal Method

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The axial-flow pump is a widely used piece of general machinery which consumes large amounts of energy. In this study, an axial-flow pump with the specific speed of 536 is firstly designed and experimentally measured; then, the orthogonal method is ...
